    ARIEL Theatrical is pleased to announce Miss Nelson is Missing, a bonus addition to our 2022 Season!

    After the mysterious disappearance of one of Horace B. Smedley Elementary School’s finest educators, a rowdy group of classmates receives a crash course in accountability and respect when a surprise substitute teacher arrives on the scene. Based on the popular children’s book by Harry Allard, the hilarious Miss Nelson is Missing will bring laughter and learning to the ARIEL stage on May 6, 7, 13 & 14, Fridays at 7 pm and Saturdays at 2 pm & 7 pm.

    What will you bring to the table?

    ARIEL Theatrical is actively seeking members of our diverse community to serve on its Board of Trustees. If invited, prospective board members initially serve on board committees. Individuals are encouraged to utilize their experience, education and personal strengths in their committee service.  Committee members may be invited to join the Board of Trustees after it is determined that their efforts will reinforce the mission and contribute to the success of ARIEL Theatrical. Individuals may serve on committees without joining the board if that is preferred.

    ARIEL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a 35+ year history of education, outreach and performance. Utilizing theatre as a vehicle for teaching important life lessons, participants are inspired to make choices that transcend the stage and positively impact the world around them.

    ARIEL is a unique arts organization in Monterey County and is committed to helping young people learn to lead principle-centered lives.

    If you are interested in joining a board committee, please complete the ARIEL Board of Trustees Application, linked below, and submit via email. Along with your application, please introduce yourself briefly and share your reasons for wanting to be involved at ARIEL.

ARIEL has utilized technology and creativity to tirelessly deliver mission-centered programs during the pandemic. Whether programs are online, outside, or in their Salinas theatre, ARIEL is committed to helping young people learn to lead principle-centered lives.   6. ARIEL RECEIVES GRANT FROM PEBBLE BEACH COMPANY FOUNDATION

    ARIEL Theatrical has begun the long-awaited shift from COVID-driven virtual and online theatre programs to in-person classes and camps with generous grant support from the Pebble Beach Company Foundation. ARIEL is honored to be recognized as a nonprofit that provides opportunities for young people to learn and develop skills, work to accomplish goals, and aim towards excellence in every endeavor.

    The Pebble Beach Company Foundation believes that all children in Monterey County deserve an exceptional education and the opportunities that come with it. ARIEL has been providing engaging programs for youth for more than 35 years and is committed to helping young people learn to lead principle-centered lives by practicing Accountability, Respect, Integrity, Excellence and Leadership, in life and on stage. As ARIEL returns to live programming after more than a year of pandemic restrictions, the Pebble Beach Company Foundation grant award demonstrates the importance of theatre arts in a well-rounded education.

  7. Generous Two-Year Grant from the Harden Foundation

    ARIEL Theatrical is honored to announce a generous two-year grant award from the Harden Foundation. In addition to the financial support, the Harden Foundation Executive Director, Joe Grainger, offered these encouraging words: “We know that nonprofit organizations in our community will be faced with unforeseen challenges in the coming year(s) as they struggle to maintain services while dealing with a deadly pandemic and a reduction in funding sources. We are dedicated to doing everything we can to support and promote the nonprofit sector in our communities.”

    After a year, ARIEL is calling “places” for your return to the theatre, featuring live,
    in-person* camps!!

    Beginning the week of April 19 young people ages 5-18 are invited to join the ARIEL artistic team for un-zoomed, live theatre activities and exercises.

    *Space is limited as we observe all necessary health and safety guidelines.

Pandemic or no pandemic, kids are ready to have some fun, and our cast had a ton of fun creating their characters, along with sets, costumes and artwork for this unique online production.
